In the heart of the Leicestershire countryside sits Mallory Park, known as the ‘Friendly Circuit’ for its more than helpful staff and a cafe that has acquired almost legendary status among trackside catering – it really is that good! Coupled with the very pretty lakes in the infield and the sloping green, natural ampitheatre you’d could almost think the 1.3m circuit might be a little on the genteel side. Once out on the track you soon discover you’ve been lulled into a false sense of security because Mallory is fast, so much so that a couple of chicanes have had to be added to slow the bikes down. Although on the short side, and therefore relatively easy to learn, a lap involves some intense action with quick straights, heavy braking and the amazing fast, seemingly endless Gerrards bend. In contrast, Shaws Hairpin is ultra tight and a real skill test.
The paddock is in the centre of the circuit with a limited number of garages – if you want to be guaranteed power a generator is a good idea. Spectators can get a great view all around the circuit, and access over the track is via a footbridge once the bikes are out. It may not be as grand as some other circuits but Mallory is guaranteed to make you smile.

In a small valley in the rolling Lincolnshire Wolds, one of the UK’s oldest race circuits twists and turns its way through parkland and woodland for 2.2m. Starting life as a short chalk track for racing motorbikes in the 1930s, Cadwell Park is now firmly established as one of the most popular tracks for bikers in the country and more people attend the BSB round held here than any other on the calendar. For spectators who can get close to the action all the way round the circuit, the atmosphere is electric.
It’s easy to see why the spectators love it – the many direction changes, swooping curves and flowing sections in conjunction with the elevation changes make for some fabulous racing. Nothing beats the excitement of riding Cadwell yourself though and although quite narrow, the challenge of what is sometimes called a ‘mini Nurburgring’ is addictive. The Gooseneck is a testing off camber corkscrew with a rapidly descending exit, contrasted by the sharp incline of ‘The Mountain’. This awesome feature is arguably the most recognisable on any UK circuit, thanks to the ubiquitous pictures of bikes several feet in the air. No one is quite as exuberant over the Mountain as Josh Brookes and a No Limits trackday gives you the chance to at least try getting a wheelie photo in a similar style.

Snetterton was built on a airfield in the 1950s and made the most of the space with some long, super quick straights that gave rise to its reputation as one of the fastest circuits in the country. A redevelopment that was completed in 2011 saw the track extended by the addition of a twisty infield section enhancing the technical challenge and we use this layout, known as the 300, for our trackdays. A full resurface was completed at the same time and along with being wide and flat with plenty of run off this makes for a novice friendly circuit. None of the character of the old circuit has been lost and for more experienced riders the challenge of setting up the correct line on to the fast straights, or getting the approach to the deceptive Esses or Riches remains.

Brands Hatch has become synonymous with motorsport and fittingly for its location in a natural ampitheatre, has seen great battles over the years. Nowadays, the shorter of its two configurations – the kidney shaped Indy circuit. Despite being only 1.2 miles long and simple in shape, this is a fun circuit and the apparent straightforward appearance belies its challenging nature and the complexity of its corners. For example, the famous Paddock Hill where a cambered braking zone, blind apex and steep drop off combine to make this one of the most exhilarating corners anywhere in the UK. The longer GP circuit is subject to more restrictive noise limits and hence used less throughout the year – spaces on these trackdays fill up quickly with riders eager to pit themselves against even more of the demanding dips, cambers and famous corners. On this longer circuit you get to experience the thrill of the steep descent down Pilgrims Drop, fringed with woodland, and the fastest part of the circuit into Hawthorn Bend. As with all MSV owned circuits, the paddock facilities are great, with pit garages and plenty of places to eat.

Donington has seen its fair share of 500 GP and MotoGP history and the ‘Greatest Of All Time’, Valentino Rossi rates this as one of his favourite circuits. Troubled times with the business adminstration behind the scenes resulted in the loss of MotoGP recently, but now back in the hands of the family who originally developed the site, Donington is once again a world class venue. The chance to ride the same circuit as true legends of the sport draws many to this prestigious track with its mix of fast flowing and slower corners. Donington is a physically demanding circuit that rewards smoothness and concentration and both the world famous Craner Curves, which swoops down rollercoaster fashion, and the blind right of Coppice require more than a little nerve. Off the famous tarmac you’ll find all the facilities you’d expect of a circuit that caters to the elite of world motorsport.
